HUMANITY'S RESPONSE TO THE MACHINE

A MONTH-LONG POP-UP CAMPUS

FOR DEEP STUDY OF THE BIGGEST QUESTIONS

IN MEDITERRANEAN NATURE: FOR HEALTHY BODIES, MINDS, AND SOULS

NOVEMBER 01–30, 2023

SITGES, SPAIN

PRESENTED BY PALLADIUM MAGAZINE & WILD STUDIOS

Developments in artificial intelligence have raised significant questions that must be addressed for us to understand what impacts AI is having now, will have in the future, and what humans should do in response.

A context in which some question whether humans will survive at all—and whether indeed we should—calls for us to leave behind usual discourse for deep study of the most fundamental aspects of being, ethics, epistemology, and aesthetics.

44 years after a now-infamous IBM slide declared "A COMPUTER CAN NEVER BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE, THEREFORE A COMPUTER MUST NEVER MAKE A MANAGEMENT DECISION," we observe a major trend towards the abdication of human agency and judgment in favor of "decisions" and "insights" from autonomous systems. Why is this happening? Where is it leading? What does it mean?

Fundamental axioms of epistemology, valuation, and belief take center stage as we confront prophecies of AI utopia, dystopia, and apocalypse–and divine the present and future history of man's relationship to the machine.

The AI Conclave is our attempt to make real progress on these questions with the best people we can gather and in the best setting we can proffer. Our core group will gather at our pop-up campus for the whole month of November in Sitges, Spain (venue details forthcoming).

We will also host special guests, artists, and visitors. Our pop-up campus will have unique features with emphasis on physical and spiritual health, intellectual collaboration, community building, social fabric, and creative production.

The AI Conclave is presented by Palladium Magazine and
WILD Studios.

Palladium is an award-winning quarterly print magazine that explores the future of governance and society through international journalism, long-form analysis, and social philosophy. Palladium was founded in 2018 in San Francisco.

WILD Studios, based in Barcelona, Spain, is a life enrichment community, which builds on over a decade of experience convening immersive world-class educational, entrepreneurial, and philosophical programs internationally.
